Release of Safety Design Standard Model Guide
The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced on the 10th that it has developed and released a 'Safety Design Standard Model' in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion to prevent safety accidents in small-scale workplaces.
Safety design is a project that diagnoses and resolves various safety issues such as industrial accidents and fires by developing and applying designs that consider the psychological and behavioral characteristics of workers in companies located in national industrial complexes through service design methodologies. Since 2021, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion have been working to create a safe working environment by supporting the establishment of safety design in companies within their jurisdiction and improving design.
The newly announced standard model is a carefully selected safety design that has been proven effective through actual application in industrial complexes. By comprehensively considering industrial accident statistics, accident type analysis, and the requirements of industrial sites, it organizes safety design standard models in five areas?pedestrian safety, fire safety, hazardous material zones, protective equipment storage and wearing methods, and safety signage?covering 22 items, making it easy for small and medium-sized workplaces to apply.
Additionally, if small and medium-sized enterprises apply the standard model to their workplaces and apply for the ‘Safety Accompaniment Support Project’ operated by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, they can receive additional points starting this year.
Lee Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, said, “We have developed a standard model that small and medium-sized enterprises in industrial complexes can independently apply on-site through the safety service design project promoted since 2021,” and added, “We will continue to collaborate with related organizations to strengthen industrial complex safety through practical industrial accident prevention for tenant companies.”
