The Korea Rail Network Authority is rolling up its sleeves to support new companies developing core materials in the railway system sector and help them enter the railway market.
On the 10th, the Authority announced the opening and operation of the ‘Thank You Development Support Center’ to fulfill this role.
Until now, new companies developing items such as catenary wires and electronic interlocking devices have faced difficulties in selecting locations and administrative procedures during the on-site installation tests, which are essential steps to verify material performance and suitability in actual train operation environments.
In response, the Authority has organized and operates the ‘Thank You Development Support Center’ staffed with experts in the fields of electrification, power, signaling, and communication to resolve administrative and technical challenges, provide continuous feedback, and offer customized support consulting to help new companies establish a development environment.
The technology development support targets materials requiring on-site testing according to railway product type approval, railway facility performance verification, and Korea Rail Network Authority standard specifications.
Further details on application procedures and methods can be found on the Korea Rail Network Authority’s website.
Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Korea Rail Network Authority, stated, “We will support the development of core railway system material technologies to help innovative new companies grow and thereby strengthen the global competitiveness of the domestic railway system. To this end, the Authority will continue to reflect the voices from the field and provide practical support without hesitation.”
