Korail Obtains International Certification for 'Personal Information Protection Management System'

Korea Railroad Corporation announced on the 10th that it has obtained the 'Personal Information Protection Management System (ISO27701) certification' from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The ISO27701 certification is an international certification in the field of personal information protection, evaluating 192 control items including management systems, processing procedures, and vulnerability assessments to protect personal information.


In the evaluation, Korail was recognized for operating a security system that complies with international standards in terms of personal information protection policies, procedures, and technical measures within its reservation and ticketing system.


Korail plans to continue upgrading its security system in line with advancements in data utilization technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to enhance customer service reliability.


Previously, Korail obtained the international certifications for the international standard educational institution management system 'ISO 21001' last year and the compliance management system 'ISO 37301' in 2021.


Won Jong-cheol, Head of Korail's Digital Convergence Headquarters, said, “As artificial intelligence technology advances, the importance of personal information protection and digital ethics is also increasing. Korail will continuously improve related systems to protect railroad customer information while placing greater emphasis on maintaining global-level security.”
