Causing sell-out situations day after day and generating explosive reactions, singer Sung Si-kyung's Makgeolli brand 'Gyeongtakju 12 Degrees' won the grand prize in the Takju category at the '2025 Korea Liquor Awards,' earning the honor of winning for two consecutive years. This follows its export to Japan.
On the 10th, according to Sung Si-kyung's liquor brand 'Gyeong,' 'Gyeongtakju 12 Degrees' was selected as the grand prize winner in the traditional liquor category for live Makgeolli Takju at the '2025 Korea Liquor Awards' held at SETEC in Seoul on the 7th.
The 'Korea Liquor Awards' is a representative domestic liquor competition held annually since 2014 to discover and widely promote good liquors and to revitalize the liquor industry. 'Gyeongtakju 12 Degrees' won the grand prize in the traditional liquor category for two consecutive years.
'Gyeongtakju 12 Degrees' is a traditional liquor with a rice content of over 46%, a high-alcohol Makgeolli that is hardly diluted with water. Its characteristic is that it realizes the original taste of rice by being barely diluted with water. It has a heavy texture with no carbonation, and its sweet and sour taste along with fruity and yogurt aromas are attractive. It is thick and rich, making it ideal to enjoy on the rocks with ice.
Sung Si-kyung, known as a connoisseur, personally participated in the product development process with the desire to enjoy it with the public, attracting attention. From the first day of launch, it continued its sold-out popularity streak and was selected as the grand prize winner in the traditional liquor category for live Makgeolli Takju at the '2024 Korea Liquor Awards,' becoming a liquor recognized by both consumers and experts. This year as well, it proved its strong brand competitiveness by winning after a strict preliminary screening.
'Gyeongtakju 12 Degrees' is expanding its reach beyond Korea to the global market. It is currently sold on Qoo10, a Japanese online open market, where it is receiving enthusiastic responses from local consumers. The 'Gyeong' side stated, "We are making efforts to maintain and improve the unique taste and quality through systematic quality control."
'Gyeongtakju 12 Degrees' can be purchased on the official mall at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays.
This year's event featured 236 companies submitting a total of 1,008 brands. It is the largest scale among domestic liquor competitions handling comprehensive liquors. Among them, 431 brands received grand prizes. Of the grand prize winners, the 25 brands that scored the highest in each liquor category were selected as the highest award, 'Best of Best 2025.'
