Pyeongtaek City Calls for Resident Participation Budget Proposal Projects Until May 16

The resident-participatory budget system is designed to enhance budget transparency and democracy by expanding resident participation in processes such as budget formulation. This year, 159 resident-proposed projects worth 4.9 billion KRW were included in the budget. The city's budget for related projects next year is set at 5.6 billion KRW, a 14% increase compared to this year.

The call for proposals covers ▲'General Proposal Projects' aimed at solving overall issues in Pyeongtaek City and benefiting citizens ▲'Eup/Myeon/Dong General Proposal Projects' for addressing local community problems ▲and 'Resident Autonomy Council Proposal Projects' for Eup, Myeon, and Dong areas where the Resident Autonomy Council is being piloted.

Residents wishing to participate can submit proposals by filling out an application form and submitting it via the Pyeongtaek City website, or by visiting, mailing, or emailing the City Hall's Autonomous Administration and Cooperation Division or the Eup, Myeon, and Dong Administrative Welfare Centers. To promote project activation, the city also provides education and consulting through programs such as the 'Visiting Resident Participatory Budget School' and the 'Resident Participatory Budget Counseling Center.'

After review by the Pyeongtaek City and Eup, Myeon, Dong Resident Participatory Budget Committees, the city plans to select target projects around September and finalize the budget for next year after approval by the city council.
