Professor Na Heeryang from the Department of International Trade at Pukyong National University published a specialized book titled "Historical Understanding of Economy, Trade, and Currency" (458 pages, Pakyoungsa) on February 28, which explores the history of the world economy, trade, currency, and the Korean economy.
As an expert in international trade, Professor Na Heeryang comprehensively examines the flow and mechanisms of the world economy, trade, and currency, as well as the historical context of the Korean economy, in this book composed of four parts and thirty chapters.
Through Part 1: Historical Understanding of the Economy, Part 2: Historical Understanding of Trade, and Part 3: Historical Understanding of Currency, the book delves into the essence of the economy, trade, and currency, exploring how each topic is interconnected and interacts, helping readers understand the overall economy of the past and present.
Rather than covering the vast periods and related materials of economic history all at once, Professor Na Heeryang focuses on the period from the 16th century, when the capitalist economic system began, to the present, structuring the book to help readers grasp the complexities of today's economic environment.
In Part 4: Historical Understanding of the Korean Economy, the book focuses on the period since the 1960s, when Korea's economic development began in earnest, examining the process of industrialization, the spread of the neoliberal economic system, and the challenges and prospects for the Korean economy after the 2020s.
Professor Na Heeryang stated, "I hope that through this book, readers will gain the insight to intuitively understand the essence underlying the diverse and ever-changing economic phenomena occurring in reality through a historical understanding of the economy, trade, and currency, without losing their way."
