All Five Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers in Seo-gu, Including Ssangchon and Nongseong Bityeoulchae,
Receive Top 'A Grade' in 2024 Social Welfare Facility Evaluation
Seo-gu District in Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced that all five comprehensive social welfare centers within its jurisdiction have received the highest grade, 'A Grade', in the 2024 Social Welfare Facility Evaluation organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
According to Seo-gu on the 10th, the centers that received an A Grade are Kumho, Mujin, Siyoung, Ssangchon, and Nongseong Bityeoulchae Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers. All five centers achieved the highest overall grade in all five evaluation categories with high scores.
The Social Welfare Facility Evaluation, conducted every three years by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, aims to enhance transparency in facility management, improve service quality, and protect users' rights. The evaluation covers 287 comprehensive social welfare centers nationwide and assesses five areas: facility and environment, financial and organizational management, program services, users' rights, and overall operation of the welfare center facilities.
Based on these results, Seo-gu plans to further expand and strengthen areas that received excellent evaluations, while swiftly improving areas that need supplementation, thereby providing more accessible welfare services to residents and creating a sustainable welfare environment.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District, stated, "This result is evidence that our comprehensive social welfare centers are providing substantial welfare services to local residents," and added, "We will continue to implement more detailed welfare policies to ensure no resident is left behind, creating a warm and supportive local government for everyone."
Meanwhile, since 2023, Seo-gu has been the only district among Gwangju's autonomous districts to implement the 'Seo-gu Maullo Welfare Center' project, which provides field-oriented, community-based welfare services. Recognized for its achievements by Gwangju City, the project will be expanded and operated citywide as the 'Hub-type Mobile Welfare Center Project' starting this year.
