Wanju County in North Jeolla Province has introduced the AI Naver Care Call service to address the issue of solitary deaths among the middle-aged and elderly population.
According to the county on the 10th, the AI Naver Care Call service is a welfare project that uses AI technology to make regular check-in calls, aiming to prevent solitary deaths and connect households in need with appropriate welfare services.

The AI engages in daily conversations with the recipients, learning about their daily lives and medical histories. If a risk situation is detected, the system immediately notifies the responsible staff member.
This year, the county is regularly checking in once a week with 170 recipients in 13 towns and villages who are in need of care, and is responding promptly in case of any abnormal situations.
Song Jungtaek, head of the Social Welfare Division, said, "Through the substantial implementation of the AI Naver Care Call project, we aim to provide practical assistance not only to the elderly but also to marginalized neighbors in the community," adding, "We will work to create a warm and inclusive local community."
Anyone who needs this service can apply at any time through their local town or township administrative welfare center or the Hope Welfare Team at the county's Social Welfare Division.
