Seodaemun-gu Supports Dad's Parental Leave Incentive Again This Year... Up to 3.6 Million KRW

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 10th that it will continue the ‘Seodaemun-gu Dad Parental Leave Incentive Support Project’ this year, following last year. The district was the first among the northwestern autonomous districts of Seoul to implement this project last year to help create a child-friendly social atmosphere.

Seodaemun-gu Supports Dad's Parental Leave Incentive Again This Year... Up to 3.6 Million KRW Provided by Seodaemun-gu.

The support amount is 300,000 KRW per month of parental leave regardless of income, with a maximum of 3,600,000 KRW per household. Even if parental leave is not taken consecutively, the payment will be calculated and provided within the maximum support amount. Applications submitted by the 15th of each month will be deposited into the applicant’s account by the end of that month.

The eligible applicants are dads who ▲ are enrolled in employment insurance, have taken parental leave and received parental leave benefits since January 2024, and ▲ have been continuously registered as residents in Seodaemun-gu for at least one year as of the application date. However, those receiving support under the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘6+6 Parental Leave Special Case’ are excluded based on the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s social security system consultation results. Support is available when taking parental leave after the special case period ends.

Additionally, applications must be submitted from one month after the start of parental leave up to 12 months after its end. Applications can be made monthly or in a lump sum, but since the project ends when the budget is exhausted, it is recommended to apply monthly.

Applications can be made through the Government24 website or by visiting the local community service center of the applicant’s address. Required documents include the parental leave benefit payment decision notice, parental leave confirmation, and resident registration certificate.

Mayor Lee Seongheon said, “I hope this support system will encourage men who hesitate to take parental leave due to concerns about income reduction to participate more in childcare and help achieve a balance between work and family.”
