Climbing Wall to Stand 18 Meters High and 30 Meters Wide, Speed Wall to Reach 15 Meters High and 6 Meters Wide
Mayor Kim Kyungil: "We Expect the Base of Sports Climbing to Expand in Paju City"
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 10th that it has officially launched the construction of the "Paju International Standard Artificial Climbing Wall" to realize extensive sports welfare through the expansion of sports infrastructure.

The artificial climbing wall project was included in the government budget after continuous consultations initiated in January 2023 by the local district member of the National Assembly and the city. It will be built at 186-5 Geumneung-dong (inside Paju Stadium), with a total project cost of 3.5 billion KRW (1.05 billion KRW from the national government and 2.45 billion KRW from the city), aiming for completion in August.
Following the groundbreaking ceremony held on the 5th, attended by Mayor Kim Kyung-il, National Assembly member Park Jung, local organization leaders, and about 150 Paju citizens, preparations for the main construction are underway, including the installation of temporary fences and relocation of obstacles.
The artificial climbing wall will feature a climbing wall 18 meters high and 30 meters wide, and a speed wall 15 meters high and 6 meters wide. Inside, there will be office spaces and an indoor climbing gym.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, "We expect the construction of the international standard artificial climbing wall to expand the base of sports climbing in Paju City," and added, "We will continue to expand sports infrastructure so that citizens can enjoy sports activities."
