The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), together with the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency, will participate in the 54th London Book Fair from the 11th to the 13th and operate a "K-Book Export Consultation Booth." This is the first time since Korea participated as the guest of honor at the London Book Fair in 2014 that a Korean publishers' group booth is being operated.

The London Book Fair, the largest English-speaking B2B book fair, is a specialized trade fair. Every year, about 1,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries and 30,000 publishing professionals participate.

A total of 48 companies are participating in the export consultation booth. Ten companies, including Munhakdongne, Darakwon, iPortfolio, and BC Agency, will participate on-site, while 38 companies will conduct export consultations on 101 book titles in a consignment format. Discussions will be held on exporting books by authors such as Lee Geum-i, whose work "B-Cut for You" (Munhakdongne) was a finalist for the 2024 Hans Christian Andersen Award (HCAA), as well as authors Jeong Seraang and Park Sang-young.

Before the book fair, MCST will provide local publishing professionals with information about the participating domestic companies and their books, and on-site, interpreters with extensive experience in book export will be assigned to support consultations.

Additionally, MCST will establish export consultation booths at three international book fairs this year. Support for rights exports will be provided at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy at the end of March, the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany in October, and the Shanghai Children's Book Fair in China in November.

Im Seong-hwan, Director of the Media Policy Bureau at MCST, stated, "Since the UK is an important gateway to the English-speaking publishing market, we hope that the participation in the London Book Fair will serve as a starting point for 'K-Book' to actively enter the English-speaking market. MCST will continue to provide substantial support so that domestic publishing companies can pursue overseas market entry in a stable environment and strengthen their position in the global publishing market."
