Executives from SK Hynix and SK Telecom Attend
Regular Events to Study Market Cases
SK Group has established the 'SK Manufacturing Solution Day' for digital transformation (DT) in the manufacturing sector and has begun case studies with executives from related member companies.
According to the business community on the 10th, SK held the 'SK Manufacturing Solution Day' last month at the Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won did not attend the event, but about 120 executives from over 20 SK manufacturing affiliates, including SK Hynix and SK Telecom, were present. The 'SK Manufacturing Solution Day' was organized for the first time by the newly established DT Promotion Team under the SK Supex Council, formed through year-end personnel changes last year. It is evaluated as part of activities to share excellent DT cases in manufacturing, strengthen the DT competitiveness of manufacturing affiliates, and raise the overall DT level of the group.

At the event, Hong Kwang-pyo, Head of the DT Promotion Team of the Supex Council (Vice President), said, "If we continuously learn and communicate by benchmarking the best cases of leading member companies, we can grow together," adding, "We plan to steadily create a platform for SK manufacturing member companies to communicate and cooperate with each other." The 'SK Manufacturing Solution Day' is expected to be held quarterly and play a key role in leading the DT initiatives of group affiliates.
During the event, the SK Management and Economic Research Institute shared cases from Siemens, General Electric (GE), John Deere, and Caterpillar, emphasizing the role of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and change management leadership. They particularly highlighted user value-centered technological innovation as the most important factor in achieving DT outcomes.
SK Hynix shared cases of moving beyond automation to an Autonomous Fab in semiconductor production plants that require complex and advanced technologies, explaining the process of improving productivity through new system applications starting from engineering work automation initiated in 2014.
SK Telecom explained the direction of AI application to strengthen manufacturing capabilities, including manufacturing AI and market intelligence. They also introduced the expansion of the A.Dot Biz function and integrated management of data and large language models (LLM). SK Telecom emphasized, "In the case of market intelligence, building a common platform to solve on-site problems together can reduce time and costs."
In addition, representatives from SK Hynix, SK Energy, and SK Chemicals reportedly shared cases of manufacturing site innovation from a DT perspective.
Prior to this, at the end of last year, SK Group strengthened its capabilities by establishing a separate DT Promotion Team distinct from the DT Task Force (TF) under the Strategy and Global Committee, which was led by Yoon Poong-young, CEO of SK Inc. C&C, through executive personnel changes and organizational restructuring. In particular, the keywords for the organizational restructuring and personnel changes at that time were 'strengthening business competitiveness,' 'discovering personnel to respond to geopolitical issues,' and 'consolidating DT capabilities' as core tasks for each member company.
