Expanding Business in the Southeast Asian Power Market Riding the "AI Boom"

LS Eco Energy, which is leading the power infrastructure market in Southeast Asia, is expanding its market by securing a contract to supply power cables to the Philippines' largest data center (IDC·Internet Data Center).

On the 10th, LS Eco Energy announced that its Vietnam production subsidiary LS-VINA recently supplied medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) power cables to the Philippines' largest data center, 'STT Fairview Campus.' This supply marks the foundation for expanding its business into the Southeast Asian data center market.

STT Fairview Campus is a facility under construction by the global data center specialist STT GDC in Quezon City near Manila. Once completed, it will have a total IT capacity of 124 megawatts (MW), establishing itself as a key infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud companies.

With the rapid global growth of the AI and cloud industries, data center construction has been actively progressing in the Southeast Asian region recently. LS Eco Energy expects the Southeast Asian data center market to grow at an average annual rate of over 10%, from $8.8 billion in 2023 to 2028.

Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy, said, "Large-scale data center projects are actively being promoted not only in the Philippines but also in major Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. We plan to intensify our approach to the Southeast Asian data center market based on LS-VINA's production competitiveness."

Meanwhile, STT GDC is a global IDC operator wholly owned by ST Telemedia, a subsidiary of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek, operating more than 110 facilities worldwide, including in Singapore, China, India, and the UK. Additionally, LS Eco Energy has recently begun exporting aluminum power cables to the United States and is actively expanding its overseas markets, while also pursuing entry into submarine cable and rare earth businesses.
