LG Uplus Partners with AWS to Create 'Korean-style Sovereign Cloud'

Joint Promotion of 'AX Alliance' Strategy
Collaboration on Work Agent Based on Self-Developed 'ixi-GEN'

LG Uplus and AWS signed a strategic partnership at MWC25 in Barcelona, Spain, and agreed to jointly promote the 'AX Alliance' strategy to foster the domestic AI cloud ecosystem. LG Uplus has formed a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to jointly develop a "Korean-style sovereign cloud."

The two companies announced on the 10th that they signed the partnership at the "Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC2025)" held in Barcelona, Spain, and promised to collaborate in developing the Korean-style sovereign cloud, AI platforms and solutions, and AI consulting through jointly promoting the "AX Alliance" strategy.

As the first step of the AX Alliance strategy, they plan to jointly develop the "Korean-style sovereign cloud" to support the AX transformation of domestic public, financial, and advanced enterprises. A sovereign cloud is a cloud service that complies with the laws and regulations of a specific country and protects data sovereignty by providing data storage, processing, and operation within that country. Through this, domestic companies will be able to strengthen their control and autonomy over data.

Additionally, the two companies will optimize LG Uplus's self-developed small language model (sLLM) "ixi-GEN" and AWS's large language model (LLM) "Nova," and jointly develop a "Work Agent" to enable domestic companies to quickly adopt AI services.

LG Uplus plans to advance AICC into a "Customer Agent" by enhancing AI-based predictive recommendation algorithms and utilizing the AWS platform, and will also participate as a domestic specialized partner of GenAIIC (Generative AI Innovation Center), AWS's AI consulting organization.
