Cohere Founded by Former Google AI Researchers... Company Valued at 8 Trillion KRW
Joint Development of Korean and Finance-Specialized Agent Models
LG CNS announced on the 10th that it has signed a partnership with the global AI unicorn company Cohere for the first time in Korea.
Through this partnership, LG CNS will jointly develop agentic AI services tailored to domestic companies with Cohere. Agentic AI refers to AI that goes beyond simply answering questions and generating reports, repeatedly planning, executing, and evaluating to achieve goals and solve complex problems.

Agentic AI is explained to enable more fundamental and autonomous problem-solving. While existing AI chatbots in financial companies summarize and generate answers to questions based on learned data when receiving requests for insurance product recommendations, agentic AI can search for additional information on the internet or find and book a meeting time with the person in charge of the product.
Cohere is a Canada-based AI unicorn company founded in 2019 by AI researchers formerly at Google, currently focusing on AI business for enterprises. Founder Aidan Gomez is a prot?g? of Geoffrey Hinton, co-author of the 'Transformer' paper, which is the core foundation technology of large language models (LLMs). Cohere possesses AI models and solutions built on data security for enterprises. It has attracted large-scale investments from global big tech companies such as NVIDIA, Oracle, and Cisco, and its current corporate valuation reaches $5.5 billion (approximately 8 trillion KRW).
LG CNS plans to build enterprise-tailored agentic AI services based on Cohere’s agentic AI solution 'North' and provide them securely in an on-premises deployment model. North is equipped with AI agents responsible for tasks such as human resources management, finance, and customer support, as well as various LLMs, enabling companies to easily create the agentic AI services they need.
Additionally, through this partnership, they plan to fine-tune Cohere’s LLM to jointly develop Korean and finance-specialized agent models and integrate them into North.
The two companies will expand their industrial scope from the financial sector AX market to manufacturing, distribution, and services. They also plan to explore entry into the global agentic AI market in the future. Jin Yohan, Head of LG CNS AI Center (Executive Director), said, "It is meaningful to sign the first and exclusive partnership in Korea with Cohere, a global top AI company," adding, "At a time when agentic AI has not yet fully started in Korea, LG CNS will lead the market together with Cohere."
Aidan Gomez, CEO of Cohere, said, "I look forward to the journey ahead with LG CNS," and added, "Starting with Korean financial companies, we will provide essential agentic AI services to companies in various industrial sectors together with LG CNS."
