Gyeongsan City Operates Our Village Beautiful Dementia Shelter

Gyeongsan City in North Gyeongsang Province announced that starting with a meeting on March 7 to discuss the operation of the "Our Village Beautiful Dementia Shelter," it will run 30 sessions of cognitive intervention programs?such as reminiscence, sensory, and physical activities?once or twice a week from March to July at five local health clinics (Daewon, Uisong, Gail, Dodeok, and Geumgok) for local residents to prevent dementia and delay its progression.

Through this meeting, the city aims to provide preliminary training for the operation of the Beautiful Dementia Shelter, gather various opinions, and strengthen the expertise of the operators to ensure smooth and substantial management of the program.

In addition, various health promotion education programs?such as chronic disease management for hypertension and diabetes, oral health management, and mental health education?offered by the public health center will be conducted together, providing knowledge and information not only on dementia but also on maintaining a healthy life in old age.

Ahn Byungsuk, head of the Gyeongsan Public Health Center, said, "Through the Beautiful Dementia Shelter program, we will work to address blind spots in dementia management and operate high-quality prevention and health management programs to help extend the healthy lifespan of seniors."
