With the final contract for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's new nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic imminent this month, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has stepped up to support nuclear power exports through expanded economic cooperation with the Czech Republic.
According to KOTRA on the 9th, President Kang Kyung-sung visited Prague, Czech Republic, on the 5th and 6th (local time) to discuss ways to expand economic cooperation with the Czech Investment Agency, the Chamber of Commerce, and others.
Kang Kyung-sung, President of KOTRA (right), visited the Doosan ?koda Power manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic on the 6th and held a meeting with officials from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, and others for the 'Nuclear Team Korea' discussion.
During a meeting with Jan Michal, head of the Czech Investment Agency, President Kang agreed on plans to expand cooperation across energy, including nuclear power, and advanced industries.
He also chaired a European trade and investment expansion strategy meeting held locally, and visited Doosan Skoda Power, the local subsidiary of Doosan participating in the nuclear power plant bid, where he discussed support for the nuclear power plant contract and export plans for power equipment with representatives from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and Doosan.
President Kang said, "The Czech Republic and Korea are manufacturing powerhouses representing Central Europe and East Asia respectively, and synergy is expected. Through economic diplomacy and nuclear cooperation, we will actively support our companies' entry into Central Europe."
