Daiso Mall and Danggeun App Users Reach Record Highs
Surge Driven by Spread of Recession-Type Consumption Since Last Year
The number of users of Daiso Mall, which sells uniform-priced products, and the Danggeun app, which trades used products, surged to record highs. This is analyzed as a result of the spread of recession-type consumption, increasing consumers seeking ultra-low-priced products and used goods.
On the 9th, WiseApp and Retail, an application (app) and retail analysis service company, announced that the number of Daiso Mall users last month was 3.62 million.
This is a 69% increase compared to the same month last year (2.14 million). The number of users decreased from 1.42 million in February 2021 to 1 million in February 2023, but surged since last year.
The number of users of the used trading platform Danggeun app was 22.16 million, a 7% increase compared to the same period last year (20.8 million). Danggeun app users also started to increase from last year, after being in the 19 million range during 2022?2023.
The number of users of Daiso Mall and Danggeun last month each set an all-time record.
Since last month, Daiso Mall has been piloting ‘Today Delivery’ in some areas such as Gangnam, Seocho, and Songpa in Seoul. If you order through Daiso Mall before 5 p.m., the product is prepared at a nearby store and delivered on the same day.
An industry official said, “The increase in online users is due to supplying inexpensive products in categories such as fashion and beauty, as well as strengthening delivery services with next-day delivery.” With the quick commerce business based on more than 1,500 stores nationwide in full swing, the number of Daiso Mall users is expected to increase further.
Danggeun is also enjoying growth by significantly increasing the number of transaction items. In addition to simple used goods trading, various categories such as direct used car transactions, direct real estate transactions, and tutoring have been added, accelerating user growth.
