On the same day, Gong-su-cheo stated in a press release, "As the investigative agency responsible for arrest and detention, we express regret that we were unable to receive a judgment from a higher court regarding issues such as the calculation of the detention period."
The court decided to cancel the detention, stating that President Yoon was indicted after the detention period had expired, and that since the defense attorneys were claiming illegality concerning Gong-su-cheo's investigative authority over the charge of rebellion and the split use of detention periods by Gong-su-cheo and the prosecution, it was desirable to clarify the procedures and resolve doubts about the legality of the investigation process.
The prosecution decided not to file an immediate appeal against the court's decision and released President Yoon on the same day.
