On His Social Media: "The Prosecution Must Release Immediately"
Jang Donghyuk, a member of the People Power Party and former presiding judge, stated on the 8th that the prosecution's immediate appeal regarding the court's decision to cancel President Yoon's detention is "unconstitutional."
On his social media that day, Jang wrote, "The court has granted President Yoon's request for cancellation of detention," adding, "In addition to the issue of the detention period, the court has delivered a stern judgment on the illegal investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (Gongsoocheo)."
He continued, "The prosecution, trying to appease the Democratic Party, forcibly detained and indicted the president, which inevitably led to the cancellation of the detention," and asserted, "According to Constitutional Court precedents, an immediate appeal is unconstitutional and will clearly be dismissed."
He particularly emphasized, "The prosecution, which previously handed over the case to the Gongsoocheo under pressure from the Democratic Party, should not further commit new illegalities by hastily filing an immediate appeal just to keep up with the Democratic Party's demands, but should immediately release the president."
He added, "The goddess of justice is watching," and said, "I hope the Gongsoocheo, which has degenerated into an investigative agency serving the orders of the Democratic Party, does not follow the same path of being pronounced dead by the courts and the people."
Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 25 (Presiding Judge Ji Guyoun) granted the request for cancellation of detention filed by President Yoon's side on the 7th.
