Rally in Front of Hannam-dong Residence: Chants of "Impeachment Invalid" and "Fraudulent Arrest"
Conservative Group Leader Declares "Victory in the Struggle"
Counter-Protest Also Held: Calls for "Immediate Arrest" and "Prosecution's Appeal"
Rallies Conclude Without Clashes
On the 7th, when the court canceled the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol, supporters gathered in front of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, urging his release and stayed late into the night.
Around 8 p.m. that day, about 800 supporters of President Yoon (unofficial police estimate) gathered in front of the Volvo Building near the residence, holding a rally chanting slogans such as "Release immediately," "Impeachment invalid," and "Fraudulent arrest." They waved light sticks, urging President Yoon to return home promptly.
Joo Ok-soon, the representative of the conservative group 'Mom's Army,' said from the podium, "The struggle that has continued since December last year has led to victory," and added, "Let us make the Republic of Korea a greater country together with President Yoon." The supporters responded by shouting "Long live the Republic of Korea."
Meanwhile, some supporters encouraged passersby by saying, "President Yoon may return to the residence as early as tonight," urging them to "stay in place." At the same time, about 300 meters away from the Volvo Building, in front of the Lutheran Church, the civic group 'Yoon Seok-yeol OUT Youth Student Joint Action,' which called for President Yoon's impeachment, held an emergency press conference demanding his immediate arrest and the prosecution's appeal.
Both sides' rallies proceeded without any significant clashes that day. The police managed the scene and maintained order.
