KCTU and FKTU Strongly Protest 'Procedural Violation'
Claim: "Meeting Held in Writing Without Official Notification"
Ministry of Health and Welfare: "There Is a Basis for Written Meetings, but Improvement Measures Will Be Considered"
The Ministry of Health and Welfare has been accused of excluding labor union-recommended members in violation of procedures during a working-level evaluation meeting related to the National Pension Fund management.
On the 7th, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions stated in a joint press release, "Despite opposition from three labor union-recommended members to holding the working-level evaluation committee meeting in writing, the Ministry of Health and Welfare proceeded with the meeting without officially notifying them." They also pointed out, "The final decision-making body, the Fund Committee, was not convened, and the Ministry reported the settlement data to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance based solely on the working-level evaluation committee's review results."
Both organizations urged, "The Ministry of Health and Welfare should acknowledge responsibility for excluding labor union-recommended members and for not convening the Fund Committee, and establish measures to prevent recurrence."
Meanwhile, a Ministry of Health and Welfare official said, "Although there is a basis for conducting the working-level evaluation committee meeting in writing, we will consider improvement measures in light of the labor union's concerns."
