Demolition Scheduled for February Next Year Following Approval of Integrated Bidding Method... Completion Expected in 2028

Bundang-gu Health Center in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) is scheduled to be newly constructed with 4 underground floors and 10 above-ground floors by 2028. The Bundang-gu Health Center, built in 1993, has been aging and cramped, prompting continuous calls for reconstruction.
According to Seongnam City on the 7th, the reconstruction project has gained momentum following the approval of the large-scale construction bidding method by the Gyeonggi-do Construction Technology Deliberation Committee on the 6th.
The scale of the new Bundang-gu Health Center does not fall under the category of facilities subject to integrated bidding review (public buildings with a total floor area of 30,000㎡ or more). However, Seongnam City pursued the integrated bidding method to reduce project costs and shorten construction periods, passing the consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Central Construction Technology Deliberation Committee on November 29, 2024. Subsequently, on the 6th, the Gyeonggi-do Construction Technology Deliberation Committee approved the original plan for the large-scale construction bidding method, allowing the final push for integrated bidding.
Administrative procedures such as the review of the bidding guide in May and the bidding announcement in July will be carried out, and the selection of qualified design-build contractors is expected to be completed within this year.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam City expressed his determination regarding the project speed, stating, “We will reconstruct the Bundang-gu Health Center as soon as possible to provide smart All-Care services that meet the medical needs and expectations of our citizens.”
The current Bundang-gu Health Center is scheduled to begin demolition in February next year and be completed in 2028. During the construction period, operations will be temporarily relocated to the Jeongja-dong Complex Building currently under construction (next to Bundang Police Station, 4th to 6th floors of Jeongja 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center). To minimize inconvenience caused by this temporary relocation, Seongnam City will make every effort to provide guidance and publicity regarding the temporary operation of the Bundang-gu Health Center.
