Pukyong National University Naval ROTC Achieves Presidential Award for Second Consecutive Year

Winners of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Award and the Marine Corps Commander's Award Also Produced

The Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) of Pukyong National University, led by Colonel Song Taeyong, has once again produced a recipient of the Presidential Award at this year's Joint Commissioning Ceremony for ROTC officers, following last year's achievement.

At the 2025 ROTC Joint Commissioning Ceremony recently held at the Army Cadet Military School, Navy Second Lieutenant Park Jonghyeok (Biotechnology, Class of 2021) from the Pukyong National University Naval ROTC was honored with the Presidential Award.

The Presidential Award, presented at the ROTC Joint Commissioning Ceremony, is given to only one cadet among all commissioning candidates based on a comprehensive evaluation of university academic performance, military training scores, character, and leadership.

Additionally, Navy Second Lieutenant Jo Sieun (Political Science and Diplomacy, Class of 2021) from the Pukyong National University Naval ROTC received the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Award, while Marine Corps Second Lieutenant Kim Byeongjun (International Business, Class of 2021) received the Marine Corps Commander's Award. Over the past two years, they have demonstrated outstanding leadership and military capabilities by excelling in both military training and academics, achieving top results among ROTC candidates nationwide.

Second Lieutenant Park Jonghyeok said, "I was able to receive this award thanks to my fellow cadets who were with me until commissioning, as well as the ROTC commander and instructors who guided me." Second Lieutenants Jo Sieun and Kim Byeongjun also expressed their commitment to becoming officers who will dedicate themselves to their country.

The Pukyong National University Naval ROTC has been recognized as an outstanding ROTC unit, having achieved excellent results this year as well as last year, when it received the Presidential Award, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Award, and the ROK-US Combined Forces Commander's Award at the Joint Commissioning Ceremony.
