The Suwon Southern Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province will conduct on-site adaptation training for 'facilities for the elderly and infants' within its jurisdiction until May 31 to reduce casualties caused by large-scale fires in spring. Facilities for the elderly and infants refer to educational and welfare facilities for the elderly and young children.
The main training contents include ▲ conducting unannounced, unscripted drills led by fire safety managers to improve initial response capabilities ▲ guidance on the use of evacuation facilities and rescue equipment ▲ evacuation guidance for hospitalized patients ▲ establishment and operation of a 24-hour initial response system and mission proficiency training.

Go Young-ju, head of the Suwon Southern Fire Station, emphasized, "Since the risk of fire occurrence is high in spring, facilities for the elderly and infants must also be thoroughly prepared," adding, "Proper initial response by related personnel during a fire can prevent the spread to a large-scale fire."
Meanwhile, an analysis of spring fires in the province from 2020 to 2024 showed that spring fires accounted for 26.8% of the total, the highest proportion. Additionally, the number of fires by month was highest in April, with 116 cases.
