President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was arrested and indicted on charges of being the 'leader of a rebellion,' will now stand trial while released following a court decision to cancel his detention on the 7th, prompting major foreign media to urgently report this as breaking news.

AP News, citing a related report from Yonhap News Agency, stated, "A South Korean court has ordered the release of the impeached President Yoon from prison," adding, "He was arrested and indicted last January on charges of rebellion related to the declaration of martial law on December 3 of last year."

Reuters also broke the news that the court accepted President Yoon's request to cancel his detention, reporting that "the path to release from prison has opened." The outlet added, "He faces a separate criminal trial and was the first sitting president to be arrested on criminal charges on January 15."

France's AFP and China's Xinhua News Agency have also reported in real-time updates that the court approved President Yoon's release.

Earlier, the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Gui-yeon) accepted President Yoon's request to cancel his detention on the 7th, arguing that the detention was unjust. President Yoon's legal team filed the request on the 4th of last month, claiming that the indictment was made illegally after the detention period had expired.
