Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, expressed his strong gratitude on the 7th for the court's decision to accept his demand to cancel the illegal detention of President Yoon Seok-yeol.

On the same day, Mayor Hong wrote on social media (SNS), "The impeachment against President Yoon should obviously be dismissed."

Mayor Hong further stated, "I hope the head of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, the Prosecutor General, and the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office chief take responsibility for the illegal investigation and resign immediately," adding, "It is right for the prosecution not to file an immediate appeal."

He added, "If the prosecution files an immediate appeal and it is dismissed, it could become a problem for the entire prosecution organization," and "Since the Corruption Investigation Office, which does not have the authority to investigate treason, and the prosecution's investigations are all invalid, the prosecution should immediately cancel the indictment."

On the same day, the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Ji Gwi-yeon) accepted President Yoon's request to cancel his detention. Accordingly, President Yoon will be tried while released.
