Bucheon-si Establishes Volunteer 'Foreign Workforce Pool'... Monitoring Illegal Disposal of Household Waste

Bucheon City in Gyeonggi announced on the 7th that it will establish and operate a 'Foreign Workforce Pool' to support social service and participation in city administration for multicultural and foreign residents living in the area.

According to the city, recruitment began in January, and currently, 32 foreign residents have registered, some of whom started volunteer activities the day before.

This volunteer activity is conducted in collaboration with the Sosa-gu Resource Circulation Division and involves inspecting illegal disposal of household waste in Simgokbon-dong, an area densely populated with Chinese restaurants. Participants in the Foreign Workforce Pool serve as interpreters and guides in Chinese regarding business operators' compliance with the amount of waste cooking oil discharged and the methods of disposal and discharge.
