Hongseong County Recruiting 120 Participants for Youth Challenge Support Project on a First-Come, First-Served Basis

Hongseong County in Chungnam has been selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 2025 'Youth Challenge Support Project' and has begun full-scale implementation.

According to the county, the Youth Challenge Support Project is designed to help young people who have been long-term unemployed for more than six months, are socially isolated, or have given up on job searching, to prepare for employment again. The county plans to recruit participants in the first half of the year and launch the program in the second half.

Eligible applicants are unemployed youth aged 18 to 49, including: those with no record of employment, education, vocational training, or business registration (with at least six months since business closure) for more than six months; young people preparing for independence who have left child welfare facilities (including those with extended stays) within the last five years; youth entering or leaving youth welfare facilities (shelters, self-support centers, social welfare facilities); those working less than 30 hours per week for livelihood; and North Korean defector youth. University (including graduate) students, students on leave of absence, and those deferring graduation are not eligible to participate.

Youth up to age 34 can apply by searching for 'Youth Challenge Support Project' on the Work24 website, selecting 'Hongseong County' as the application institution and 'Chungnam Lifelong Education and Talent Development Foundation' as the operating institution, and completing the questionnaire.

The program will recruit 120 participants: 30 for the short-term course, 60 for the mid-term course, and 30 for the long-term course. Customized programs such as one-on-one counseling, case management, confidence building, career exploration, job competency enhancement, mock interviews for the National Employment Support System and vocational training, and job placement support will be provided twice a week for 5 weeks (short-term), 15 weeks (mid-term), or 25 weeks (long-term), with each session lasting 4 to 5 hours.

Participants who complete each course will receive participation allowances and incentives: up to 500,000 won for the short-term course, up to 2.2 million won for the mid-term course, and up to 3.5 million won for the long-term course.

Kim Taeok, head of the Economic Policy Division, said, "We will actively support young people who are struggling to enter the labor market so they can more easily pursue job searches and adapt well to their workplaces."
