Southeast Nuclear Medicine Center Invites Top Brain Vascular Specialist... "Aiming to Build a Cardiovascular Center Surpassing the Capital Region"

Professor Jang Kyungsoo, Formerly of Incheon St. Mary's Hospital,
Appointed as Director of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center
at Southeast Regional Nuclear Medicine Center, Opening in the First Half of the Year

Southeast Regional Nuclear Medicine Center (Director: Lee Changhun) has invited a renowned expert in the field of cerebrovascular medicine to actively respond to the demand for essential medical care in the region and to ensure the successful opening of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center.


Jang Kyungsoo, Director of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, who began seeing patients in March, has accumulated extensive experience in both clinical care and surgery, having served as Chief of Neurosurgery, tenured professor, and Deputy Director of the Brain Hospital at Incheon St. Mary's Hospital, College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Seoul.


Director Jang possesses abundant clinical experience in procedures such as cerebral infarction intervention (emergency cerebral vascular recanalization), cerebral hemorrhage surgery, cerebral aneurysm surgery (craniotomy and clipping, coil embolization), cerebral artery stenosis intervention (stent insertion, balloon angioplasty), Moyamoya disease surgery, as well as in treating chronic headaches, dizziness, and neuroses.


In the field of research, he has conducted studies on adult stem cells for neuroregeneration, has served as a board member of the Korean Society of Interventional Neuroradiology and the Korean Society of Neurocritical Care, and in 2023, received a commendation from the Director of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a national standards expert for medical products. He continues to be active both domestically and internationally as a leading figure in neurosurgery.


With the ability to diagnose, perform procedures, and carry out surgeries for various cerebrovascular diseases, including acute cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction that require emergency intervention or surgery, the center can now provide rapid response to high-risk diseases in a region with a large elderly population. This is expected to contribute to the stable operation of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, which is set to open in the first half of the year.


Director Jang Kyungsoo stated, "Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, along with cancer, are leading threats to the middle-aged and elderly population. I will focus my efforts on the successful operation of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, which will be running from the first half of this year, to help Southeast Regional Nuclear Medicine Center strengthen its competitiveness not only in cancer treatment but also in essential medical care."


Director Jang also expressed his ambition, saying, "Based on my long-standing clinical experience, I will do my utmost to ensure that the center, as the leading public medical institution in the Southeast region, can achieve competitiveness that extends beyond the Seoul metropolitan area."
