Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will officially launch the 2025 Jeju Workation Project, starting with the revamped private voucher support program on the 10th. The key features of this project are the provision of customized incentives based on company size and the introduction of the nation's first local government Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) evaluation and certification system.
The province aims to strengthen its position as a leading domestic workation destination through differentiated policies and to become a global workation hub by attracting overseas companies and digital nomads.
To enhance the sustainability of private workation spaces, Jeju has revamped the existing individual voucher system and introduced a new project-based voucher. The individual voucher now includes airfare as a supported item, reflecting user demand, and reimburses actual expenses for airfare, accommodation, and leisure activities up to 300,000 KRW per person.
Eligible applicants include companies and employees from outside Jeju, individual business owners, and freelancers. Applications can be submitted through the Jeju Workation website until June 4.
To promote regular exchanges among small and medium-sized enterprises, Jeju will also support project-based vouchers in cooperation with private partners. This approach allows private offices to take the lead in planning, from attracting companies in specific industries to developing specialized programs and facilities.
To encourage a continuous influx of business professionals, Jeju will provide specialized incentives according to company size. For the first time among local governments, the province is introducing a "Jeju Special ESG Certification Evaluation System," which awards extra points in corporate evaluations, thereby increasing the value of corporate participation in workation programs.
To improve the quality of workation services, Jeju will develop a dedicated brand and introduce a facility certification system. The province will strengthen the sustainability of private partners through space and operational consulting and enhance credibility by establishing the Jeju Workation brand.
Additionally, Jeju will promote the attraction of overseas companies and digital nomads, as well as various corporate promotions within public offices, so that companies can enjoy workations in Jeju more frequently and conveniently.
Kim Miyoung, Director of Economic Vitality for Jeju Province, stated, "Recently, local governments across the country have been actively working to attract workation programs. With Jeju's unique and specialized workation policies, we will create an environment where companies and the region can grow together and develop Jeju into a global workation hub."
