6,149 Households to Be Built Through Land Readjustment-Based Public Development
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting an urban development project through public development on 956,000㎡ in the Wonpyeong-dong and Paengseong-eup Singung-ri areas.
On the 7th, Pyeongtaek City announced the promotion plan for the "Wonpyeong·Singung District Urban Development Project" in a press briefing.
The city explained that it decided to do so to restore the function of the old downtown and develop the area into a local attraction by developing the relatively underdeveloped area around Pyeongtaek Station.
The Wonpyeong·Singung District includes 619,000㎡ in Wonpyeong-dong and 337,000㎡ in Singung-ri. The project method is a land readjustment method, and the expected number of households to be built is 6,149.
The city plans to create a "walkable street" so that residents in the district can walk to Noeul Ecological Cultural Park without interference from cars. In particular, through landscape improvements such as the expansion of Gunmun Bridge, photo zones, and night lighting, this area will be developed into a sunset attraction. A waterfront space with rest and walking functions will be created along the Anseong Stream.
To this end, the city plans to request a local finance (self) investment review in the first half of the year and request consent for the designation of the project implementer from residents in the second half.

Park Young-chan, Director of the Urban Housing Bureau of Pyeongtaek City, said, "The project target area has high development pressure but is practically undeveloped and is at risk of flooding during heavy rainfalls. We will improve residential conditions centered on the river to achieve balanced development."
Meanwhile, besides the Wonpyeong·Singung District, Pyeongtaek City is currently promoting two other urban development projects through public development. The Manho District in the western area has completed the implementation plan approval, and the Gagok District in the northern area has completed the development plan establishment.
