Gumi University Continues the '1,000-Won Breakfast' Program This Year

Easing Students' Meal Expenses
and Supporting Healthy Eating Habits

Gumi University in North Gyeongsang Province announced on the 6th that it will continue providing the "1,000 Won Breakfast" program this year, following last year, to help ease students' meal expenses and promote healthy eating habits.

The "1,000 Won Breakfast" initiative is a youth dietary support policy promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. It is a program that offers breakfast to university students for 1,000 won to help them develop regular eating habits.


Through this program, Gumi University plans to provide breakfast five days a week (Monday to Friday) for eight months from March 4 to December 12, operating until the budget is exhausted.


The total cost of one breakfast is 4,500 won. Students pay 1,000 won, while the government subsidy covers 2,000 won, and Gumi University and the local government contribute 1,500 won.


President Lee Seunghwan said, "We expect the 1,000 Won Breakfast program to not only reduce students' financial burden but also contribute to the formation of healthy eating habits," adding, "We will increase satisfaction by developing menus that reflect students' preferences and maintaining strict quality control."
