Will Serve as a Catalyst for the Closure of the Sex Trade District
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 7th that it will officially operate the closure base facility for the sex trade district (hereinafter referred to as the base facility) from this month, serving as an advanced post for conducting anti-sex trade education and monitoring sex purchase activities.

The base facility was acquired last March after going through various administrative procedures such as shared property review, purchasing a key building within the district, and then remodeling construction began in September last year. After various renovations, it has taken its current form.
The facility consists of three floors: ▲ the 1st floor houses a joint civil-government-police office monitoring sex purchase activities ▲ the 2nd floor is an exhibition space to enhance the effectiveness of anti-sex trade education ▲ the 3rd floor includes a meeting room (shared office) for travel-related education and various meetings. It is expected to establish a constant monitoring system for sex purchase activities and serve as a base so that more citizens can visit the district, enabling a more effective closure of the sex trade district.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, “The full-scale operation of the base facility will serve as a catalyst for the inaugural year of closing the sex trade district,” adding, “The base facility will be fully activated to empty out the illegal and violent sexual exploitation occurring in the sex trade district, fill it with the warm hearts of citizens, and transform it into a space where happiness is shared.”
