A man in his 30s who stole a wallet from inside a coat on the street has been apprehended by the police. He stated that he needed money for living expenses and had been released from prison last year for a similar offense.

The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station applied for an arrest warrant on the 7th for a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of stealing about 300,000 won in cash from a coat placed in front of a restaurant.

Mr. A disappeared after stealing a wallet from a coat in front of a restaurant in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, on the 11th of last month. While investigating another case, the police detained and arrested Mr. A on the 5th of this month in the same area after observing suspicious behavior.

Mr. A told the police, "I committed the crime to cover my living expenses."

The police applied for an arrest warrant citing the repeat offense during the probation period and concerns about flight risk.
