The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 7th that it will operate the ‘2025 Digital Competency Education Week’ (hereinafter referred to as Education Week) in March. This Education Week will be conducted targeting 3rd and 4th graders in elementary school and 1st graders in middle and high school, considering the operation of the 2022 revised curriculum and school conditions. Intensive education will be provided for proper use of digital devices, including student digital literacy, ‘Hi-Learning’, and Artificial Intelligence Digital Textbook (AIDT).

The Office of Education developed and distributed various educational materials ahead of the new semester to ensure smooth operation of Education Week. It supports schools’ Education Week operations by providing ▲Smart Device Usage Agreement Guidelines ▲Digital Citizenship Education 5-Min+ materials ▲Virtual Reality ‘Highland’ utilization materials, among others.

The Smart Device Usage Agreement Guidelines for elementary schools were distributed through the design of ‘Hi-Learning’ classes. The guidelines include lesson plans, activity sheets, and reference videos, structured for immediate use in classes.

Additionally, new March educational materials for ‘Digital Citizenship Education 5-Min+’ were distributed to help students develop digital ethics and responsibility. The content is systematized according to the developmental stages of elementary students, and middle school materials are designed to enhance usability by linking with classes.

Furthermore, the virtual reality (metaverse) ‘Highland’ service has been launched to enable students to independently learn proper digital character and competencies in digital spaces. ‘Highland’ is integrated into the AI teaching and learning platform ‘Hi-Learning’ to support students’ self-directed learning.

The Office of Education plans to actively support the spread of digital citizenship education practice through the operation of Digital Competency Education Week and strengthen cooperation between schools and education support offices so that students can grow as digital citizens.
