Jeollanam-do held a Policy Vision Tour in Suwon on the 6th, coming together with the Gyeonggi-do Honam Association to discuss the future development of Jeollanam-do. They agreed to join forces to address key provincial issues, including the establishment of a national medical school and the creation of the Jeollanam-do Special Self-Governing Province.

The Policy Vision Tour is an expanded and reorganized version of the annual “Dialogue with Residents,” where Jeollanam-do visits cities and counties to report on provincial achievements and visions and to listen to local concerns. This year, the event was held in Gyeonggi-do, following previous tours in Seoul and Busan.

At the Policy Vision Tour, over 400 members, including Kim Pojung, President of the Gyeonggi-do Honam Association, and presidents of the 31 city and county associations in Gyeonggi-do, attended the event presided over by Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Yungrok. They discussed solutions to key issues facing Jeollanam-do, such as the establishment of a national medical school, the creation of the Jeollanam-do Special Self-Governing Province, and overcoming the crisis of local extinction, as well as strategies for sustainable regional development.

On this day, the Gyeonggi-do Honam Association contributed 10 million won in Hometown Love Donations and pledged to recruit 100,000 members for the Jeonnam Love Supporters, showing their commitment to the development of their hometown.

Jeollanam-do operated various promotional booths at the entrance of the Policy Vision Tour venue to encourage interest and participation in provincial affairs, featuring topics such as the national medical school, Jeonnam’s agricultural and specialty products, return-to-farming and fishing policies, and tourism content, which received enthusiastic responses from attendees.

Governor Kim Yungrok stated, “It was a meaningful time to explain provincial affairs and share opinions with the Honam residents in Gyeonggi-do, who always show unwavering interest and support for their hometown,” adding, “I once again felt the passion and encouragement of the Honam community for Jeonnam’s development.” He emphasized, “We will continue to create opportunities to communicate with the Honam community and listen closely to their voices.”

The Gyeonggi-do Honam Association Federation, established in 1998, is one of the largest hometown associations in Korea, consisting of 4.5 million Honam residents and 31 city and county federations.
