Gas Heat Pumps are heating and cooling devices driven by gas engines instead of electric motors, which emit air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and total hydrocarbons during operation.

Accordingly, the city will invest a total project cost of 205 million KRW (including 70% national and provincial subsidies) to support up to 90% of the cost for installing emission reduction devices on Gas Heat Pumps.

The support covers 65 units, with subsidies ranging from 2.46 million KRW to 3.32 million KRW per unit depending on the type of Gas Heat Pump engine.

The eligible recipients are private and public facilities within Seongnam City that installed and operated Gas Heat Pumps before December 31, 2022, in accordance with the Ministry of Environment guidelines.

Old Gas Heat Pumps that have been in operation for more than 16 years are excluded from the support.

Facilities that receive the subsidy must use the Gas Heat Pumps equipped with the emission reduction devices for at least two years.

Applications can be submitted by checking the announcement on the Seongnam City Hall website and then either delivering the required documents in person to the Climate Energy Division on the 5th floor of Seongnam City Hall or sending them by mail.

Last year, Seongnam City also carried out this project, subsidizing 564.72 million KRW for the installation of emission reduction devices on 197 Gas Heat Pumps installed in private and public facilities.
