Plan to Discharge 7,800 Tons by the End of This Month
Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced that it will begin the 11th ocean discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (referred to as "treated water" by the Japanese government) as early as the 12th.
Kyodo News reported on the 6th that "TEPCO plans to discharge 7,800 tons by the end of this month, similar to previous discharge rounds."
TEPCO started discharging contaminated water into the ocean on August 24 last year. So far, it has diluted approximately 77,000 tons of contaminated water with seawater and released it into the sea in front of the Fukushima nuclear plant over 10 rounds.
Following the discharge of contaminated water, TEPCO began dismantling empty storage tanks starting last month. Among more than 1,000 storage tanks, 12 will be dismantled by the end of March next year.
