French Defense Minister Reveals Sharing of Domestic Intelligence
France announced on the 6th (local time) that it is providing its own intelligence to Ukraine, which has faced a suspension of weapons and intelligence support from the United States.
Defense Minister S?bastien Lecornu appeared on Radio France Inter that morning and explained, "The suspension of U.S. aid, especially the halt in intelligence cooperation, will have a significant impact on operational execution," adding, "We are sharing the intelligence capabilities we possess with Ukraine."
John Ratcliffe, Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), confirmed the suspension of U.S. support in an interview with a Fox-affiliated media outlet the previous day, stating, "President Donald Trump has doubts about whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is committed to the peace process."
Although Ratcliffe did not specify a particular time, he said, "I believe the suspension of U.S. support will end," and "The United States will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine again and cooperate," leaving open the possibility of resuming intelligence sharing.
The suspension of U.S. military aid was implemented following the breakdown of the summit between the two countries' leaders at the White House on the 28th of last month.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signaled a willingness to restore relations by stating he is ready to sign a mineral agreement with the United States at any time, and the previous day, senior officials from both sides agreed during a phone call to sit at the negotiating table next week.
