"5,000 Foreigners Visited Lotte Duty Free"... Full Effort to Attract Group Tourists

Lotte Duty Free to Attract Over 5,000 Foreign Group Tourists in June
Strengthening Core Competitiveness in the Duty-Free Business

Lotte Duty Free announced on the 6th that it will attract over 5,000 foreign group tourists this month and strengthen its core competitiveness in the duty-free business.

On the 3rd and 5th of this month, employees of the Taiwan Amway Group visited Lotte Duty Free while visiting Korea to discuss business strategies and attend corporate meetings aimed at strengthening networks. About 1,200 employees entered Korea in three groups, visiting major tourist sites in Seoul, Incheon, and Gangwon Province, and Lotte Duty Free was the only duty-free shop they visited.

Lotte Duty Free prepared welcome banners and six types of travel pouch sets as gifts for the Taiwan Amway Group employees. They showed great interest in domestic cosmetics and food products such as Nonfiction and Tamburins at the duty-free shop.

On the 2nd, over 3,000 large cruise group tourists who visited Busan enjoyed shopping at the Busan branch. The tourists, who departed from Shanghai, China, and arrived at Busan Port, toured Jagalchi Market and shopped at Lotte Duty Free Busan before moving on to Fukuoka, Japan. At the end of this month, about 800 incentive group tourists from a Chinese cosmetics company are expected to visit the Myeongdong main store.

In early January, Lotte Duty Free established a marketing division and placed the Group Tour (GT) team, Free Independent Traveler (FIT) team, and Communication team under it to strengthen segmented target marketing for group tourists, individual tourists, and VIP customers. The strategy is to simultaneously capture both sales and profitability by doing its best to attract MICE events and incentive group tourists, including general group tourists.

To attract group tourists, last month Lotte Duty Free held an event inviting tour interpreters from major travel agencies in China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. To this end, Lotte Duty Free quickly identifies market trends through its local offices in Japan and China and participates in overseas famous travel fairs to promote the duty-free shop, carrying out various activities to attract foreign tourists.

Kim Dong-ha, CEO of Lotte Duty Free, said, “We plan to do our best to enhance the satisfaction of travel through attracting foreign tourists and duty-free shopping by leveraging the competitiveness of our duty-free business accumulated over 45 years.” He added, “Lotte Duty Free will take the lead in normalizing the duty-free market and creating a healthy distribution tourism market through various foreign tourist attraction activities in the future.”
