The recruitment process will include document screening, a physical fitness test, and individual interviews. Those selected will be assigned to the field after receiving the required training. Through this recruitment, Wando Maritime Police plans to select a total of six people?two each for Wando Port, Maryang Port, and Ddangkkeut Port?to further strengthen the coastal safety management system in the region.
The Coastal Safety Guardians will be composed of local residents who are well acquainted with the characteristics of the coastal waters, and they will play a role in preventing various accidents that may occur along the coast. Their duties will include regular patrols of coastal waters, guidance and promotional activities for accident prevention, inspection of safety management facilities such as warning signs, and monitoring of the marine environment.
A representative from the Maritime Police stated, "The experience and know-how of local residents who are familiar with the terrain and characteristics of the coast are of great help in preventing coastal safety accidents. We will continue to systematically improve the coastal safety management system through ongoing public-private cooperation and create a safer marine environment."
