Goyang Mayor Donghwan Lee Conducts Safety Inspections at Construction Sites Amid Thawing Season

On-site Inspection of Wondang 1 District Redevelopment, Goyang Changneung District, and Janghang Public Housing District

On the 5th, Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, conducted a safety inspection of major construction sites in preparation for the spring thaw season.

According to Goyang Special City on the 6th, this site visit was an opportunity to comprehensively check the progress status, issues during the process, and future plans of each construction site to prevent safety accidents during the spring thaw season.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, along with the Goyang City Safety Management Advisory Group, started at the Wondang 1 District Housing Redevelopment Maintenance Project site, then visited three locations including the Goyang Changneung District Public Sale Housing Construction site and the Goyang Janghang M-1 Block Mixed-use Residential and Commercial New Construction site, thoroughly inspecting the implementation status at each site.

The thaw season, when the ground frozen during winter begins to melt, is a period with a high risk of safety accidents such as subsidence and collapse. During the inspection, special attention was paid to ▲the risk of soft ground ▲the condition of structural cracks and subsidence ▲the status of drainage facilities and slope safety measures.

In addition, Mayor Lee listened to the progress and safety measures for the thaw season from the construction site officials and encouraged the workers.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan stated, “We will thoroughly manage construction safety and quality to provide an environment where citizens can live with peace of mind,” and added, “We will continue to prioritize citizens’ safety and strive to create a city where everyone is happy.”

Goyang Special City plans to continue the 3-An (安) administration (Safety, Peace of Mind, Stability) by prioritizing accident prevention at construction sites and citizen safety through on-site inspections and strengthened safety management.
