Long-neglected long-term unexecuted parks in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, are being transformed into healing spaces.
Yeonsu-gu announced on the 6th that following the completion of Songdo 2 Neighborhood Park this month, it is accelerating construction work on long-term unexecuted parks with the goal of completing the development projects for Nongwon Park and Samoji Park by December.
Long-term unexecuted parks refer to sites where park projects have not been carried out for over 60 years since their designation. The district plans to complete the park development projects by next year by investing 96.3 billion KRW of its own budget and 45.3 billion KRW of private capital.
Starting with Donggok Children's Park, which was developed last year, the district plans to complete the development projects for Songdo 2 Neighborhood Park, Nongwon Neighborhood Park, and Samoji Neighborhood Park this year, and to complete Haknarae Neighborhood Park next year, returning pleasant and clean green parks to the residents.
In particular, parks damaged by indiscriminate cultivation will be transformed into healing spaces for residents, allowing anyone to recharge their tired body and mind at nearby parks.
To this end, the district has completed compensation for private land in the long-term unexecuted parks, and since the second half of last year, has begun full-scale construction of Nongwon Park and Samoji Park. Additionally, the first phase of Haknarae Park, the parking lot construction, will be completed in the first half of this year, with the park development scheduled to be finished by December next year.
Lee Jae-ho, mayor of Yeonsu-gu, said, "I am pleased to be able to return the long-term unexecuted parks, which have been a long-standing wish, to the residents one by one," and added, "We will complete all the long-term unexecuted parks by next year and transform them into local healing spaces and places for community communication."
