Support for Copayments Begins for 149 Childcare Service Users
Expected to Ease Parenting Burden
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 6th that it will promote the Gyeonggi-do Childcare Service Copayment Support Project starting this year to create a "child-friendly city."
This project targets households with an income at or below 150% of the median income (Type A to C user families) who use the childcare service, and operates by providing additional support for part of the copayment on top of the existing national subsidy.
Support is provided differentially according to household income level, covering up to 100% for Type A, 80% for Type B, and 60% for Type C within a monthly limit of 20 hours, and is automatically reimbursed to the user's personal account at the end of each month without a separate application.
Since February this year, 149 users of the childcare service in Pocheon City have started receiving support for their January copayments. It is expected to reduce the economic burden on parenting families and contribute to solving the low birthrate problem by creating a stable childcare environment.
For inquiries about government support for the childcare service, contact the Family and Multicultural Team at Pocheon City Hall. For inquiries about using the childcare service and copayment payments, contact the childcare service providers in Pocheon City for detailed guidance.
A Pocheon City official said, "We hope this project will provide practical help in reducing the childcare burden for families using the childcare service," and added, "Families experiencing childcare gaps are encouraged to contact us anytime."
Meanwhile, the childcare service provides one-on-one care by childcare providers for families experiencing childcare gaps due to dual-income households, etc. It is available for children from 3 months to under 12 years old and can be applied for through the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative welfare centers or the Bokjiro website. When receiving government support, it can be used at a lower cost than private care.
