First in the Nation... 'My PAJU!, Pretty Signboard Recommendation' Open to All Citizens
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 6th that it is accepting participation applications for the "16th Paju City Pretty Signboard Contest" until June 30.
The "Pretty Signboard Contest" has been held for the 16th time to discover pretty signboard designs that can contribute to improving the urban landscape, aiming to create a pleasant living environment and beautiful cityscape. Paju City is the only city in Gyeonggi Province to hold this contest, and it is the oldest contest of its kind nationwide.
The contest categories are divided into wall-mounted signboard types: ▲Creative Signboards and ▲Installed Signboards. Anyone can participate in the Creative Signboards category, while advertisers, outdoor advertising businesses, and advertising designers can participate in the Installed Signboards category.
After review by the Outdoor Advertising Deliberation Committee, 9 winners will be selected for the Paju City Mayor's Award, with a total prize of 5 million KRW. Winners will provide their designs free of charge, and the winning designs will be applied to the signboard improvement support project and used for public purposes such as education at the Signboard Culture School.
To foster interest and consensus on signboard culture, Paju City is the first in the nation to accept recommendations for pretty signboards from citizens. Recommendations are conducted online and can be submitted through the Paju City website → Communication & Participation → Pretty Signboard Contest (My PAJU!, Pretty Signboard Recommendation).
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, "Through the contest, we hope to discover and develop creative signboard designs that reflect Paju City's unique characteristics, providing visual enjoyment for citizens. We also hope that the pretty signboard recommendations will contribute to establishing a dignified outdoor advertising culture and proper advertising culture in Paju City."
Since 2010, the Pretty Signboard Contest has received 1,308 entries over 15 editions, with 232 of them having won awards.
