10 Items in 5 Key Areas Including Pesticide Poisoning and Fracture Risk
The Jeonju Agricultural Technology Center in Jeonbuk (Director: Kang Saegwon) announced on the 6th that it will launch a new project this year to provide special health checkups for female farmers.
The core of this 'special health checkup' project is to support 10 items in five areas?musculoskeletal system, pesticide poisoning, fracture risk, cardiovascular system, and lung disease?as well as four preventive education programs, with the aim of preventing agricultural work-related illnesses and improving health and welfare for female farmers.
The program targets 490 female farmers born in odd-numbered years between January 1, 1955, and December 31, 1974, who are registered with an agricultural management entity. Eligible participants can choose between Daejan Hospital and Jeonju Hospital for their checkups.
In the first phase, applications will be accepted at local community centers until the 19th for those born in 1955. Applicants must submit documentation verifying their current agricultural management registration, and those selected will receive their checkups by the end of June.
Other initiatives for female farmers include support for farm helpers for women giving birth in rural areas, the Saengsaeng Welfare Card for female farmers, and the provision of convenience equipment for female farmers.
Through this project, the city expects to contribute to healthier lives and sustainable agricultural development by identifying and preventing the unique health risks faced by rural female farmers at an early stage.
A city official stated, "The health of female farmers is an important asset to rural society," adding, "We will continue to strive to improve the quality of life for female farmers through ongoing health support programs."
