Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University
to Give Lecture at Dong-gu District Office on the 14th
Gwangju Dong-gu (District Chief Lim Taek) announced on the 6th that this year's Dong-gu Academy will officially begin on the 14th with a lecture by Professor Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University.
Launched in 2007 and now in its 19th year, Dong-gu Academy is a representative lifelong learning and liberal arts lecture series in Gwangju Dong-gu. Every year, it invites experts from various fields to provide residents with broad learning opportunities.
The first lecture will be held on the 14th at 2:00 PM in the main conference room on the 6th floor of Dong-gu District Office. Professor Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University, who is actively promoting Korea to the world, will take the stage to talk about "Infinite Challenge Toward the World."
In this lecture, he will share the challenges and experiences of promoting Korea globally and explore the direction that local communities and individuals should pursue in the era of globalization.
On April 11, writer Kang Wankook will give a lecture on "Writing That Moves the Heart." On May 9, Professor Son Myungdong of Gwangju Women's University will present "Dementia Prevention and Warm Companionship." On May 31, writer Kim Takhwan will speak about "How to Live as a Village Novelist." On July 11, Park Byungkwon, Director of the Korea Urban Ecology Research Institute, will deliver a lecture titled "Understanding Cities, Humans, and Ecosystems."
In the second half of the year, novelist Jung Jia will present "People Who Became History" (September 12), baseball commentator Kim Sunghan will give "My Life, My Baseball" (October 24), pharmacist Song Eunho will offer "How the Wealthy Take Supplements" (November 14), and poet Jeong Hoseung will discuss "The Most Precious Value in My Life" (December 12).
Dong-gu Academy will be held on the second Friday of each month until the end of the year. Details and schedules can be found on the Dong-gu District Office website and SNS. Inquiries can also be made by phone to the Lifelong Learning Team of the Humanities City Policy Division.
