Second Collaboration Following the Remake of 'SKY Castle'
SLL announced on the 6th that 'Mamono (魔物)', co-produced with TV Asahi, will be broadcast in Japan starting from the 18th of next month.
After signing a memorandum of understanding for mutual cooperation in content business last May, this drama is the second to be introduced in Japan following the remake of 'SKY Castle'. It tells the story of a highly skilled female lawyer who falls into a forbidden love with a married man who is a suspect in a murder case. The leads are played by Kumiko Aso, known for 'Omusubi' and 'Unknown', and Akihisa Shiono, known for 'Incompetent Takano' and 'To the Shining You'. The screenplay was written by Reika Seki, the writer of the Japanese version of 'My Love from the Star' and 'H2 ~Days with You~', based on the original idea 'Son-gil' by writer Shin Eun-young.
Direction is jointly handled by Yusuke Taki, director of 'Crazy Cruise' and 'Country of the Tanabata Festival', and Takashi Ninomiya, director of 'The Wife Who Lost Her Liver' and 'Pile Up, Lonely Death'. Directors Jin Hyuk and Choi Bo-yoon, known for 'Lady Okssi', also joined to take charge of episodes 1 and 2.
Seiko Uchiyama, director at TV Asahi, said, "From the planning stage, excellent creators from both Korea and Japan collaborated," and added, "We hope viewers will enjoy this beautiful and stimulating story that delves into human instincts." Park Jun-seo, head of SLL's production division, stated, "Starting with this production, we will build a foundation for long-term collaboration between the two countries and embark on discovering new intellectual properties (IP)."
