Hanpass announced on the 6th that it has been selected as the official partner of the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
The DMW is a Philippine government agency responsible for managing and supporting Filipino workers employed overseas. In addition to workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS) conducted by the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor, it manages seasonal workers, professionals, and other overseas dispatched nationals. Last May, 100 domestic helpers entered Korea through the EPS system between Korea and the Philippines.
Through this agreement, Hanpass will support the entry and stay convenience of Filipino workers dispatched by the DMW in Korea. It will also comprehensively provide financial and living convenience services for their successful settlement in Korea. The service scope will be expanded from the existing foreign residents in Korea to workers before their entry into Korea who have received approval from the Philippine Employment Agency. Hanpass is also pursuing agreements with multiple overseas countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Uzbekistan.
Kim Kyung-hoon, CEO of Hanpass, said, “Being selected as the official partner of the DMW marks a milestone for us to fulfill our role as a cross-border fintech company connecting Korea and the Philippines,” and added, “We will expand Hanpass’s influence not only among Filipino workers residing in Korea but also locally in the Philippines through cooperation with the DMW.”
He continued, “Through a business agreement with the Philippine fintech company GCash, it has become possible to provide better financial services such as payment of Philippine public utility bills,” and said, “We aim to establish ourselves as a comprehensive financial platform supporting all aspects of foreign residents’ lives, including finance, KTX high-speed train and express bus reservations, and legal, labor, and tax services.”
